Radio City Christmas Spectacular
This show in NYC, I have seen three times now. It was fabulous as usual. Keep in mind that, as I share my thoughts. I did not personally enjoy the part about shopping for Christmas with the mother and daughter and the 3D video game part. The costumes and the dance (lack of) that the Rockettes performed were not to my liking, although I understand that this is relatable to many attendees. Otherwise, as on prior occasions, a flawless show.
Another part that I did not like as much as in prior shows just came to mind... the part where the couple ice skates. The ice skating part was never my favorite, and I found it a bit annoying how the cast members were placed in front of them singing. You really couldn't see them very well, so I wonder why they were in the show. Perhaps if you want to show an ice skating rink, the people should be "regular" folks who still ice skate beautifully, but not an obvious professional couple. I cannot recall what they were wearing... perhaps street clothes.
This year, I liked the nativity scene much better. It seemed like there were fewer animals, which I appreciated as I do not like the use of animals in theatre. It seems stressful for the animals to be on stage in bright lights and loud music just for our benefit. The costumes were spectacular, with vibrant colors.
Moreover, an announcement needs to be made not only about cell phones but also about people wearing hats and talking during the performance. I am not referring to children. The people in front of us kept moving back and forth talking, and the teen in front of me had a hat on that was completely blocking my view. I politely asked her to remove her hat, which she did, but that should not have been my responsibility.
